The classic hiking ascent to the shelter starts from Pigi Maganiaris (980m) where the asphalt road from Paleopanagia ends. At Maganiari there is spring water all year round and a large parking area arranged by the Sparta Forestry Department.  The trail is well marked and passable and ideal during the summer months because it moves in the shade of the conifers. After meeting twice the forest road Maganiaris - Pentavlon, we enter the path on the right and after a slight slope in the forest we reach the source of Tripoda, with its huge black walnut trees. From here, turning left, the slope increases and higher up (1,470m) we meet the E4 path Katafigio - Lakkoma. After a while you reach the Varvara spring, the last spring before the shelter and the summit, which usually dries up during the summer months. Leaving Varvara, we come out on a forest road where, turning right after a while, we reach the shelter at an altitude of 1,550m.
