Durduvana Weekend Trip 25, 26 April 2024
Saturday 25th May Afternoon Departure - Overnight at Limni Doxa - Sunday 26th May climb to the Peak
The Greek Mountaineering Association (E.O.S.) Sparta carries out for its members, an excursion to Dourdouvana (2,083m) .
Description of route
Just from the perimeter road of the lake (at its most west point) there is a junction that goes west towards the forest. There is also a yellow large plate «pros Dourdouvana». The ascent is marked with red – white square and quite dense, so we will not encounter any problem even in bad weather.
So we catch the road and a little further up the path shortens the turns passing by a small source and then by a meadow. We go back out on the road and climb into a dense forest of fir (cutting the hairpins from the path). So quickly (50’) we come out in a tank and a few meters above in a stani. Two hundred meters even the road stops in a large tank. Ap’ here begins the path that is quite obvious, besides the marking continues to be very good, always in a fir forest and now even black pine. We leave slowly – slowly to the left, having in many places amazing view of the lake and Ziria opposite.
We go out on a road (this is the main dirt road passing through the chalice of the Hunter, it connects Feneos with Planitero and Achaia in general) which we leave almost immediately and where we quickly press on the Cross of the Hunter at 1450m (2 hours). Now the path (red markup) leaves left on the slope between the fir trees and after going up a little straight up, then it softens and begins to traverse the slope to the left until the top of the Durduvana!

Sunday 08 30 start of Hiking for the Top.
Return to cars in the afternoon and return to Sparta.
