The Greek Mountaineering Association (E.O.S.) Sparta holds for its members, an excursion to Taygetos on Saturday, August 17, 2024, on the route Taygetos Refuge - Top Profitis Ilias
(Mountain route) From the shelter after crossing the last wooded part of the route we climb steep slope, called Anathema. After a while we reach Lakkomata plateau. We pass the ravine and reach the side of a Lakka, where the path makes a maneuver, and leaving left the lacquer “Gouves” heading towards the first zone of rocks . Continuing by manoeuvring between the rocks, we reach the position “Plakes” large uphill zone, which we follow until the opening of the ridge, the “Portes”. From here we continue from the west side of the ridge on our left and after passing the barathron “Chionotryp” following a more uphill course we come out on the plateau of the top. Where there is the uncovered temple of Prophet Elias and a complex of stone-built huts around it (2,407 m).
